Dr. Sumko completed his adult reconstruction fellowship with the Arizona Bone and Joint Institute in Phoenix, AZ where he specialized in Hip and Knee replacement, and joint reconstruction and revisions surgery. His passion and experience are heavily featured in his minimally invasive total knee and total hip replacements. Muscle sparing total knees and Direct Superior total hip approaches are both less invasive muscle preserving procedures that lead to a quicker recovery of function with less pain.
Michael J. Sumko, DO, is fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hips and knees. Dr. Sumko is dedicated to providing his patients with high quality care. This is accomplished through his focus on minimally invasive soft-tissue, muscle sparing techniques that allow less pain and a fast track to recovery after surgery. Dr. Sumko strives to have his patients experience a minimal hospital stay to help return them to their active lifestyles and improve their quality of life. He has been trained on a variety of the latest technologies to accomplish successful outcomes on an individualized basis. Dr. Sumko enjoys serving in the community. His entire practice speaks Spanish and Dr. Sumko served a two-year Spanish speaking mission in Puerto Rico. He currently serves in his local church and loves working with and serving the United States veterans.
